The end of the school year is fast approaching! Maybe some of your students (or yourself!) have already started counting down the days left before summer vacation. Sure there’s excitement in the air, but despite all the tests and the fatigue, this time is as important as the beginning of the year. In fact, it is probably the moment the students will remember the most during their vacation. That’s why it is very important to make it a time to remember and to take the opportunity to reflect on everything that has happened during the school year!

Here are two suggestions to celebrate the year that has passed and to keep the memories alive!

Leave a positive mark

Take some time to reminisce on the year that has passed, on the great achievements that were made, on all the new knowledge that was acquired and also on the great friendships that blossomed during this time.

A fun way to encourage your students to reflect on the year that has passed is to have them fill out a memory leaflet. Let them take a moment to think about what they have learned, the hurdles they overcame and let them see how far they have come. On top of being a great keepsake, it is also a great way to share their achievements with their family. It is also a fun activity to do in class and it can be adapted from grade to grade. Have your students colour and fill out one of these leaflets adapted to their grade as an end of the year treat:

Celebrate their achievements

Your students have almost made it to the finish line, hurray! Why don’t you take the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments by offering them a small memento to highlight their efforts and their strengths?  They will finish the year on a high note and leave for their vacation totally encouraged and motivated.

Go ahead, have a great end of the school year and enjoy these last moments to fill  your heart with great memories!
